OT Cyber Security Lead

We are working with a leading UK energy organisation to appoint an experienced OT Cyber Security Lead. This is a key leadership role, responsible for shaping and securing Operational Technology across the industrial estate. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery and evolution of industrial security controls, aligning them with national and organisational strategies in support of critical infrastructure.

The Role:
You will lead OT cyber security strategy and implementation across the Group, acting as the primary authority on threat intelligence, risk management, and compliance within industrial environments. From protestor groups to state-sponsored threats, you will identify, analyse, and communicate risks, ensuring the implementation of strong technical and procedural controls. The role also involves line management, stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of OT cyber security controls and frameworks
  • Identify emerging threats, conduct risk analysis, and deliver intelligence reporting
  • Support EC&I, IT, and Plant Support teams in identifying and mitigating OT-specific threats
  • Represent industrial cyber security in senior leadership meetings and energy sector working groups
  • Drive compliance with regulations (NIS 2018, OG86, Grid Code, etc.) across operational environments
  • Manage and mentor a team of OT Cyber Security Analysts and Engineers
  • Influence industrial security culture and practices across all departments and sites
  • Engage with law enforcement, NGOs, and government agencies at a strategic level

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience leading OT/ICS cyber security programmes in industrial or critical infrastructure settings
  • Strong knowledge of industrial security frameworks, technical controls, and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments including NIS 2018, OG86, NERC-CIP, and Grid Code
  • Ability to assess and mitigate geopolitical and cyber threats
  • Skilled in stakeholder communication, risk management, and security governance
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional leadership roles

Desirable:

  • Certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, or SANS ICS
  • Experience working within the energy or utilities sector
  • Track record of contributing to national-level security working groups or policy development
