Controls Technician II
SR2 is partnering with an exciting building automation specialist seeking an experienced Controls Specialist to support critical-environment projects across Northern Virginia.
You will take ownership of the installation, programming, commissioning and ongoing support of sophisticated building management systems within data centres and other high-security facilities.
What you’ll be doing
- Commission, start up, test and troubleshoot BMS/DDC controllers across complex mechanical systems
- Write, test and commission control programs against detailed Sequences of Operation
- Configure BMS servers, graphical user interfaces and control-panel touchscreen displays.
- Perform pre-functional, functional and integrated systems testing
- Work directly with third-party and customer commissioning teams
- Produce and follow detailed Methods of Procedure and change-management documentation
- Integrate third-party systems using BACnet, Modbus and related protocols
- Maintain and service live BMS systems within active data-centre environments
- Provide clear daily progress reports to project leads and project managers
- Maintain accurate project records and contribute to close-out documentation
- Support multiple concurrent projects across Northern VA and the wider DMV area
- Follow strict customer security policies and site procedures
What we’re looking for
- Five or more years of experience in automation, controls, BMS or PLC systems
- Strong experience programming, starting up and testing BMS/DDC systems
- Tridium Niagara AX or N4 certification is strongly preferred
- Siemens or Schneider Electric controls experience would be advantageous
- Working knowledge of BACnet, Modbus and third-party systems integration
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems
- Excellent fault-finding, troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Good knowledge of computer operating systems and networking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A self-motivated approach with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- A four-year mechanical or electrical engineering degree, a relevant two-year qualification or apprenticeship, or equivalent industry experience
Additional requirements
- Local travel throughout the DMV region
- Occasional travel
- Ability to work within high-security and business-critical environments
